Roberto Carlos has had to be admitted to a hospital in Brazil for a heart problem. The former Real Madrid footballer, among other teams, went to a health center to undergo medical tests for a small thrombus detected in his leg. During the examination, the doctors decided to perform a full-body MRI, a test that was decisive in discovering an abnormality in the functioning of his heart.
The 52-year-old Brazilian underwent surgery to insert a catheter to help correct the heart problem. An intervention that was planned to last about 40 minutes but was extended to almost three hours due to complications that arose during the operation. Finally everything went well and the Real Madrid ambassador is out of danger, but under close surveillance. He will be under observation for another 48 hours to see that his evolution is positive.
For his part, ‘El Chiringuito’ collaborator Cristóbal Soria explained in the ‘Espejo Público’ program that Roberto Carlos had suffered a heart attack. «He is currently admitted to a hospital in São Paulo. I insist, out of danger, but he has suffered a heart attack,” said Soria, who said that the former player was in Brazil with his wife and one of his children when the episode occurred.
