This Monday the dates of the 2026 Uruguayan soccer season
of the First Division, after a League Council held in the Uruguayan Football Association.

National presented a motion proposing to postpone the scheduled date for the final of the competition by one week Uruguayan Super Cup (and therefore also that of the beginning of the Apertura tournament), and the majority of the clubs voted in favor.

At the meeting of the Club Commission Last Monday, it had been arranged that the Super Cup would be played on Sunday, January 25, and the Apertura would begin on the weekend of the 30th and 31st. However, that will not happen.

The season will start on Sunday February 1st with the final of the Super Cup between Nacional (Uruguayan Champion) and Peñarol (winner of the Intermediate), and the Apertura will begin the Saturday 7.

The Intermediate tournament will be played in two parts, with a cut from June 8 to July 11 for the World Cup. The Uruguay Cup would start before Closing.

Peñarol, Progreso and Deportivo Maldonado will join the Club Commission made up of Nacional, Liverpool, Defensor Sporting, Boston River, Racing and Montevideo Wanderers. This will seek, together with the AUF, to organize a summer tournament.
