Antwerp Keen on Gaston Avila: Transfer News

The Argentinian defender, who can play both centrally and on the left, already won the double with RAFC in the 2022-2023 season. He was then sold to Ajax for 12.5 million euros, but he did not break through there and in January 2024 he also suffered a cruciate ligament injury. That is now a thing of the past: on loan from Brazilian side Fortaleza, he has played almost everything since May and made an excellent impression.

Now that his loan expires on December 31, other Brazilian teams such as Sao Paulo are also eyeing him, but his preference is for a comeback in Europe. Antwerp is considering a rental and Avila is absolutely open to returning to De Bosuil, because he felt very good there. The only question is whether, if RAFC decides to really go for him, things can work out with Ajax. The Amsterdammers want his salary to be taken over at least largely.
