Grosseto Nurses’ Order Maintains Membership Fees Despite Economic Challenges
The Order of Nursing Professions of Grosseto has announced that annual membership fees will remain stable at €87 for 2025. This decision marks a remarkable achievement considering the important rise in the cost of living and inflation over the past 13 years.
“While this may seem like a recent accomplishment,” explains Andrea Bigozzi, treasurer of the Order, “it’s a testament to our commitment to fiscal responsibility. Considering the current inflation rate of 22% as reported by Istat, the annual fee, which stood at €83 in 2012, should theoretically be around €101 today.”
This stability is attributed to the Order’s dedication to prudent financial management and a relentless pursuit of cost-effective solutions.
“we’ve seen a sharp increase in living expenses in recent years,” notes Nicola draoli, president of the Order. “This has compelled us to constantly seek the most favorable deals in the market, ensuring the smooth operation of our administrative functions without burdening our members. It’s crucial to remember that membership fees are our sole source of funding, and we’ve even experienced a slight decrease in registered nurses, currently numbering around 1700 compared to over 1700 in 2012.”
despite these challenges, the Order has successfully covered the costs of providing valuable services to its members, including complimentary PEC mailboxes, accredited Continuing Medical Education (ECM) courses, interaction and information initiatives, and the digitization of its practices. They have also fulfilled all mandatory obligations imposed on public bodies.
“We’ve managed to perform effectively without impacting the finances of our members,” Draoli emphasizes. “This, for a public entity like ours, is a noteworthy accomplishment. The Order of Nursing Professions of Grosseto is a robust organization that demonstrates meticulous expense management without compromising the quality of services for its members. It’s possibly one of the few institutions capable of achieving this, and we should take pride in this distinction. As nurses, we are not onyl skilled healthcare professionals but also adept public administrators. This is evident in healthcare settings where numerous nurse coordinators excel at managing human and financial resources efficiently.”

It’s extraordinary that the Order has found a way to maintain its services and support its members without increasing financial burdens. It speaks volumes about their dedication and commitment to the nursing profession.

How critically important do you think it is indeed for organizations, regardless of their field, to be obvious about these kinds of financial challenges and decisions?
michael: Clarity is crucial.It builds trust and understanding between an institution and the peopel it serves. Whether it’s athletes trusting their coaches, fans trusting their teams, or in this case, nurses trusting the Order, open communication about financial realities fosters a stronger sense of community and shared purpose.
Moderator: On the flip side, the Order has seen a slight decrease in registered nurses. Could this potentially impact their ability to maintain stabilized fees in the future?
Michael: That’s a valid concern.It highlights the interconnectedness of these factors. A shrinking membership base puts more pressure on existing resources. It underscores the importance of attracting and retaining nurses – not just within Grosseto but globally.
Moderator: You mentioned the challenges faced by athletes.In your experience, how does the pressure of financial constraints affect performance in a high-pressure environment?
Michael: Performance can suffer under financial stress. It adds an extra layer of anxiety and distraction. When athletes are worried about making ends meet,it takes away from their focus on training and competition. And we’ve seen this impact even the most seasoned professionals.
