Aaron Rodgers wants to play with the New York Jets in 2023

Rodgers made his comments Wednesday during an appearance at The Pat McAfee Show on YouTube and Sirius XM.

The 39-year-old Rodgers thinks the Packers want to move on and make 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love their new starting quarterback.

Mark Murphy, president and CEO of the Packers, acknowledged that the team gave the Jets permission to talk to Rodgers.

Last week, the Jets sent a group of representatives to Rodgers’ Southern California home that included owner Woody Johnson, head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas, according to information that has been circulating.

Throughout the interview on McAfee’s show, Rodgers expressed his appreciation for his 18 seasons in Green Bay, but added that it’s time the Packers do the right thing.

I don’t think there’s a scenario where they say something like, ‘We want this and the Jets aren’t ready to give it, and so we’re going to keep you,’ Rodgers noted. This is not reality.

Rodgers’ comments follow several days of speculation that he may be in his final moments in Green Bay.

During an interview with a Green Bay television network during which he discussed Rodgers’ future with the Packers, Murphy referred to the veteran quarterback in the past tense.

The Jets’ interest in Rodgers is palpable as they seek to end the longest active streak without making the NFL playoffs.

Last season they lost their last six meetings and went 7-10. Their last qualification for the playoffs was in 2010.
