Joshua Zirkzee exchanged Bayern Munich for the Italian Bologna FC this summer. The young striker didn’t get to play too much yet.
Zirkzee has to compete with Arnautovic in rush hour and that turns out not to be an easy task. The Dutchman only managed to collect 30 minutes of play this season. Zirkzee was admittedly not to go to Bologna. He also had some offers from other clubs.
For example, Anderlecht would have liked to have bought him. The Purple & White reportedly had just under 10 million euros left for the striker. Bee The newspapaer the Dutchman elaborates on his decision: “If I had really wanted to, I would have been at Anderlecht now. I went for the biggest sporting challenge.”
The Dutchman also takes a look at ‘what could have been’: “It definitely clicked with Fabio. We would have been a nice and strong striker duo.” But in the end, the Dutchman himself chose to go to Bologna: “But Peter Verbeke and Anderlecht are forever in my heart.”
Kompany
Finally, the striker thinks for a long time when asked whether it would have gone differently if Kompany had still been T1 of Anderlecht: “Mazzu and I had good conversations, but Kompany might have had a different influence on me. After all, he brought me to Anderlecht,” said Zirkzee.
“Under Kompany I would have known completely what to expect, despite the fact that Mazzu also plays with two strikers,” concludes the attacker. So we don’t get a signed answer from him, although it should be clear that Kompany’s departure had an influence on Zirkzee’s choice.
