NFTs land on Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg goes there with his personal NFT

Baseball player or entrepreneur, you had to choose.

Instagram is constantly innovating in terms of new features on its platform. To honor its creators, the social network had recently introduced a new typeface – Instagram Without – allowing its users to customize the typo of their texts. This time, the giant is attacking NFTs. It must be said that its main competitor of the moment (TikTok) had already rubbed shoulders with it by launching its first collection of NFTs with rapper Lil Nas X.

It might come as a surprise to us that Instagram (owned by Meta, whose ambition is to make the company a metaverse) is only now launching an “NFT” feature. In fact, the platform had already enabled May certain creators and collectors to share their non-fungible digital assets. However, this functionality now extends to more than 100 countries.

For the occasion, the big boss Mark Zuckerberg shared on his networks his old baseball card, which will soon be in the form of NFT – but at what price? The deployment of this feature by Instagram will make NFTs more accessible to communities – remember that 3 out of 10 people in the world do not understand the usefulness of it.

If you want to post an NFT on Instagram, you will need to connect a crypto wallet compatible with the platform. Once connected, users – who hold NFTs of course – will be able to select the digital works they wish to publish. The group has announcement support connections with third-party wallets, including MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow, and Dapper Wallet (coming soon). Currently supported blockchains include Ethereum, Polygon et Flow.

Maybe in the near future we will be able to sell and buy NFTs on Instagram Shopping? In any case, we can already do it from our TVs. What is certain is that Meta will very soon be using the NFT function on Facebook. Over the next few months, the group will explore additional features to provide more…benefits to creators and collectors so that they can take even better advantage of this new form of potential revenue.
