The San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks have been in talks surrounding a trade involving John Collins and Dejounte Murray, Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reported.
Dejounte Murray is one of the most promising young point guards in the league today. He’s been flying under the radar because the Spurs haven’t been a competitive team the past two seasons, but Murray made an All-Star jump in 2021-22 and so it’s no surprise the Hawks have their sights set on him. .

The Spurs reportedly value Murray like the Pelicans valued Jrue Holiday when the Milwaukee Bucks acquired him. That means if Atlanta wants Murray, it’s going to have to pay a high price and include a lot more than just Collins in the deal.
The Hawks want to move Collins before the NBA Draft to be held this Thursday night in Brooklyn. If he comes to the Spurs he would be the number one offensive option on the team.
Should Gregg Popovich’s team decide to trade Dejounte Murray, that could be seen as a sign that the organization is ready for an outright rebuild.
