Judo and Unicach on the national podium

After the disenchantment caused by the early elimination of the ensemble teams at the 2022 Universiade, in its national stage that takes place in Chihuahua, good news finally appeared amid the already prolonged crisis of university sports in Chiapas. A medal that once again highlights the approaches that are lacking in higher education in Chiapas.
It is the judoka Aremy Coutiño de los Santos, from UNICACH, who won the first medal for Chiapas at the 2022 Universiade, climbed the podium to receive the Bronze medal in the Women’s 63 Kg in actions that took place on the 13th and 14th de Mayo in the Gymnasium of the Technological Institute of Ciudad Juárez (ITCJ.
Aremy was installed in Group 1 in which she won two of her three fights, defeating María Monje from ITSON, Joena Velasco Pérez from the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla and falling to Aleissa Reyes from UDG.
In the Quarterfinals, the Chiapas outclassed local favorite Abril Pyan Gastelum from the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) to secure the Bronze medal. She already in the Semifinals she lost to Dana Lomelí Castillo from the University of Guadalajara (UDG) who ultimately won the Silver.
Aremy Coutiño, Roberto Moreno’s pupil, surpassed what was achieved at the 2019 Universiade in which she finished in 8th place. 16 judokas competed in this Division.
In more results of judokas from Chiapas, Yair de Jesús Aguilar from UNACH, who participated in the 81 Kg. Division in Group 3, finished in the 3rd. place.
