The New York Mets hosted the Seattle Mariners at CitiField on Friday night. Seattle outplayed the home team 2-1, and Mets starter Max Scherzer didn’t deserve a decision after conceding a run in seven innings. He also rushed to the mound before the first inning, taking the mound to make a few extra warm-up throws and refusing to leave the mound to allow a fan to throw the ceremonial first throw.

Who knows who that fan was, but he was probably very excited to kick out the first pitch. Of course, that’s nothing for a top division club like Scherzer, but for a normal person it was an incredibly unique opportunity.
