Rocío Castro reaches seventh place in the State of Madrid

Good performance by the couple of athletes from the Judo Club Base de A Estrada in the Spanish School Judo Championship held this weekend at the Polideportivo Municipal Gallur in Madrid. Rocío Castro got a creditable seventh place after two victories and as many defeats in her first national experience.

For his part, Lucas Oria was able to prevail in the first match of the Madrid competition but was beaten in the second round by a judoka from Castilla y León, with no repechage option. The achievements of the two judokas from Estrada in the capital of Spain have been highly valued from their club of origin. “Working in this line, the results will soon arrive”, they assure from the entity. In this sense, from the Judo Club Base it is emphasized that both Castro and Oria had a memory for the companions who share the training with them.

But above all, both Lucas Oria and Rocío Castro wanted to send a lot of encouragement to part of the team that is recovering from their respective injuries. Specifically, they took advantage of their presence in the Spanish championship to wear T-shirts in memory of Francisco García and Rocío Fuentes, whose images were screen-printed on the garments. “Much encouragement for both of you. We hope to have a fight on the tatami soon ”, they add from the Base.

Lucas Oria in -46Kg. and Rocío Castro in -52Kg traveled to Madrid as part of the selection that represented Galicia in the most important championship of the Children’s category. The regional team finished in fifth position after winning three gold medals, as many silver and four bronzes. The hosts of the Madrid team dominated the competition with 7 golds, 11 silvers and 17 bronzes, followed by Valencia and Catalonia, who completed the final podium of the state competition held in the Latina district.
