Tony Estanguet wants to make the Paralympic meeting a success associated with the Olympic Games.

One month after the end of the Olympics, Tokyo, between relief and nostalgia, closed the Paralympic Games and passed on the flame to Paris. At the Trocadéro, a Marseillaise interpreted by Betty Moutoumalaya as a “song-sign”, a choreography by Sadeck Waff accompanied by a team of 126 extras, including 19 with disabilities, during a moving ceremony, seized the baton with in mind the exploits that allowed France to finish in the 14e place on the medal table (54 medals, including 11 gold).

A living flame burns in the eyes of Tony Estanguet, president of the Organizing Committee for the 2024 Games, when he says: “I was amazed by this event which, from a sporting point of view, progresses at a crazy speed, there are incredible performances. I was amazed. I had forgotten that it was at this level, it runs fast, it jumps far. And there is such a force of example. It is a lesson in life and an incredible source of inspiration.
