TOKYO, August 02 – South Koreans Kim So-yeong and Kong Hee-yong won bronze in the women’s doubles badminton event at the Tokyo Olympics on Monday with a victory over compatriots Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan.
Kim and Kong won the game 2-0 (21-10, 21-17) at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza in Tokyo. The 100% South Korean bronze medal match came after both pairs lost in the semi-finals on Saturday.
It is the only medal South Korea has won in badminton in Tokyo and the second consecutive bronze in women’s doubles. Shin teamed up with Jung Kyung-eun to bring back the bronze medal five years ago in Rio de Janeiro.
