Yiğit Onan wins Most Improved Young Player award in Turkish league

Yiğit Onan finished last season averaging 10.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and an 11.7 efficiency rating per game for Glint Manisa Basket, numbers that earned him the Türkiye Sigorta Basketbol Süper Ligi’s Most Improved Young Player award for the 2025-2026 season, the Turkish Basketball Federation announced.

The award was presented to Onan before Aliağa Petkim Spor’s Week 6 matchup against Anadolu Efes at İzmir ENKA Spor Salonu, with Renault MAİS Deputy General Manager Levent Timur handing him the honor, Uşak Haber Gazetesi reported.

From Manisa’s standout season to Petkim’s new roster

Onan, who now continues his career with Aliağa Petkim Spor, collected the award in recognition of the development he showed across the previous campaign in the Türkiye Sigorta Basketbol Süper Ligi, the country’s top-tier men’s basketball league.

The league’s individual awards for the 2025-2026 season have been rolling out, and Onan’s selection as the Most Improved Young Player puts a statistical stamp on the leap he made while wearing Manisa’s jersey.

What the numbers show

Across the season, Onan’s 11.7 efficiency rating — a composite measure of his per-game production — reflected a two-way contributor’s profile, pairing his scoring with nearly five rebounds and nearly two assists per contest. Those figures, cited by the Turkish Basketball Federation, are the basis on which the award was handed out.

Ceremony in İzmir ahead of Anadolu Efes clash

The presentation took place at İzmir ENKA Spor Salonu, the venue for the Week 6 fixture between Aliağa Petkim Spor and Anadolu Efes, giving the moment a home-court setting in front of fans gathered for the match.
