Xianning Qinglin School Claims Third Title at Xian’an Education System Basketball Tournament
The men’s basketball team representing Xianning Qinglin School secured the Class A championship at the 2026 Xian’an District Education System “Bank of Communications Cup” faculty men’s basketball tournament. This victory marks the school’s third title in the competition.
Over a span of six years, the faculty-led team has climbed from a runner-up finish in their debut tournament to three straight tournament crowns. To prepare for this year’s championship run, the squad organized a training camp one month before the tournament opened.
Faculty Members Balance Full-Time Teaching Schedules With Intensive Training
Roster members juggle daily teaching and administrative responsibilities across the school’s elementary, middle, and high school divisions. Teachers from the elementary and middle school sections attended practices during evening hours after their shifts ended, while high school faculty members rearranged their schedules to reach the court on time.
The team maintained a strict routine of ninety-minute daily practice sessions throughout the preparation period. During holiday breaks, faculty members who reside outside the local area chose to remain on campus rather than travel home or take leisure trips, maintaining their physical conditioning and team chemistry.
Coach Zhang Tao Cites Roster Challenges and Future Growth
Team coach Zhang Tao, who has overseen the squad’s training and management since its inception six years ago, noted that juggling heavy academic workloads, player injuries, and squad integration presented persistent obstacles.
“The tournament path this year was quite bumpy, and the team still has many shortcomings that require improvement moving forward,” Zhang said.
Xianning Qinglin School Integrates Basketball and National Sports
Xianning Qinglin School incorporates basketball beyond the faculty ranks by organizing regular friendly matches between the staff team and the high school student basketball squad. These matchups give students practical game experience while expanding campus sports offerings.
Beyond basketball, the institution holds national-level football specialty school designation alongside provincial swimming specialty recognition in Hubei, embedding soccer and aquatics into its core athletic development framework.
