A new archery center of excellence at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento in Tijuana, backed by a joint 20-million-peso investment, has been inaugurated to prepare youth and elite athletes for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Yahoo reported. The facility is intended to strengthen the integrated development of Baja California’s archers and position them to compete for medals on the Olympic stage.
What the CAR Tijuana facility includes
The complex features a specialized archery field with rehabilitated synthetic turf and new lighting, along with an armory, a strength gym, an athlete clinic, offices and restrooms. The spaces are designed to host training concentrations, qualifying tournaments and international camps, giving athletes medical, technical and methodological support under one roof.

Tijuana’s proximity to California shapes the 2028 plan
Baja California Gov. Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda said the city’s strategic closeness to California makes Tijuana the natural preparation hub on the road to Los Angeles 2028. “Here the athletes who carry Mexico’s colors to the planet’s biggest sporting event will be formed, perfected and strengthened,” she said. “From Baja California we will be driving the Olympic dream of a generation of archers aiming straight for the podium.”
Four organizations funded the 20-million-peso project
The investment came jointly from the Baja California state government, Mexico’s National Commission of Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE), World Archery México and World Archery Americas. CONADE director general Rommel Pacheco Marrufo said the project fulfills commitments to Baja California sport by consolidating a high-performance hub with international coaches and a unified training methodology, which he said will boost local talent and the regional economy.
Roberto Beltrán Ramonetti, director of high-level competition at the Baja California sports institute INDEBC, said the complex brings together institutional agreements reached since May 2025 among the three levels of government and international bodies. He also acknowledged the support of parents in the integral formation of young athletes.
Inauguration featured an exhibition by state team archers
The opening ceremony included a ribbon-cutting, a tour of the facilities and an official exhibition performed by members of the state team, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to athletic excellence as part of its shared-welfare agenda.
