Mexican Archery Stars Open 2026 Season at Nimes Tournament in France
Mexican archery begins its 2026 international campaign this weekend at the elite indoor Nimes Tournament in France, setting the stage for a busy opening quarter that includes a home world series stop, gob.mx reported.
The French competition brings together top-tier international archers while offering 1,000 ranking points under the updated format for the Indoor Archery World Series. Mexico’s roster features prominent world-class competitors who have accumulated medals at major international events, including the Olympic Games, World Championships, Pan American Games, and World Games.
Among the national delegation competing in France are Maya Becerra, Ana Vázquez, Ángela Ruiz, Matías Grande, and Sebastián García.
Roadmap Toward Los Angeles 2028
The Nimes event serves as an early international test for Mexican athletes as the sport enters the opening phase of the Olympic qualification cycle leading to the Los Angeles 2028 Games. World Archery competition rules for the 2028 Olympic program include the addition of compound archery alongside the traditional recurve events.
Following the competition in France, the international indoor calendar shifts to Mexico. Mérida will host a leg of the Indoor Archery World Series from February 13 to 15, bringing elite global competition to domestic soil. The indoor circuit concludes its season with The Vegas Shoot, scheduled from March 27 to 29.
National sports authorities project that Mexico will maintain its status as a global powerhouse in the discipline throughout the 2026 calendar, building on consistent podium performances in recent international seasons.
