Kodokan Pamiers Prepares Young Judokas for Ariège Open After Autumn Camp

The Kodokan Pamiers Judo club is preparing for the start of the competitive season, shifting its focus from training camps toward the upcoming Departmental Open in Lavelanet. The event, scheduled for Sunday, November 8, serves as a significant milestone for young judokas in the Ariège region, according to reports from La Dépêche.

Lavelanet municipal multisports center hosts the judo competition

The competition will take place at the municipal multisports center in Lavelanet, the capital of the Pays d’Olmes. Organizers have structured the day to accommodate various age categories, beginning with the Benjamin and Minime divisions. The event is designed to promote fundamental judo values, including respect, courage, and self-mastery, while providing a platform for local athletes to measure their progress.

To ensure the event runs efficiently, the organizers have established a specific schedule for weigh-ins throughout the day:

  • Benjamin(e) and Minime: 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • Poussins: 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • Mini-poussins: 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Training foundation at the Kodokan Pamiers dojo

The transition to formal competition follows a two-day intensive training camp held at the Bayle gymnasium dojo during the autumn break. Led by Patrick Paulhan, a 5th-dan state-certified instructor, the sessions were designed to build solidarity and friendship across different generations of club members. The camp combined traditional judo practice with team sports and games, emphasizing a ludic and inclusive atmosphere to prepare athletes for the season ahead.

The participation of young judokas from Pamiers in the Lavelanet tournament is intended to demonstrate the continued dynamism of the sport within the territory. The event is organized with the support of federal bodies and local stakeholders, aiming to provide a venue for fair play and athletic engagement.

Upcoming competition details

The Sunday, November 8, event marks the first major test for many of the club’s younger competitors. Spectators are invited to attend the tournament at the Lavelanet municipal multisports center to support the local athletes as they compete in the departmental critérium and cup events.
