Helena Elver Távozik a Győri ETO-tól, Ahogy Azt Index.hu Írta

Reflecting on her departure from Győri ETO, Helena Elver noted in an index.hu interview, „Szerintem kívülről is látható volt, amikor korábban Odensében játszottam, hogy a biztonságot jelentő környezetben én is jobban teljesítettem,” signaling a change in direction for her career.

The 28-year-old Danish playmaker is departing the Hungarian powerhouse at the conclusion of the current season. While Győri ETO KC initially communicated that the Olympic and world championship bronze medalist was returning home strictly due to family reasons, Elver’s statements to Danish outlet TV2 point toward distinct professional motivations, index.hu reported.

Discussing the motivation behind her transfer, Elver highlighted her prior experience in Denmark, stating, „Nagy önbizalommal játszottam, amiben az is szerepet játszott, hogy éreztem, komoly szerepem van a csapatban, és ki tudom bontakoztatni a képességeimet. Szóval elsősorban sportszakmai döntést hoztam, de persze jó lesz újra otthon, Dániában játszani,” she told TV2, as noted by index.hu.

The Hungarian club announced the departure on its official website, citing personal grounds, according to Nemzeti Sport.

Old club Odense officially confirmed the acquisition on Friday, locking down the playmaker through a four-year agreement, Nemzeti Sport reported. Elver previously wore the club’s orange jersey from 2020 to 2025 before making the move to Hungary.

„A távozásomkor a klubnál már futó projekt az elmúlt másfél évben még izgalmasabbá vált. Az Odense európai elitcsapattá vált, és ez számomra is rendkívül vonzóvá tette a visszatérést,” Elver said in a statement published by Odense’s official site and cited by Nemzeti Sport.

During her tenure with Győri ETO, Elver secured the domestic league title, the Hungarian Cup, and the Super Cup, alongside capturing a silver medal in the EHF Champions League, index.hu noted.

Expressing enthusiasm for the incoming player’s growth abroad, Odense managing director Lasse Honoré remarked, according to Nemzeti Sport, „Öt évig játszott nálunk, jól ismerjük őt, és az is világos számunkra, hogy a Magyarországon töltött két év alatt új dimenziókkal bővült a játéka,” Honoré stated.
