More than 360 amateur badminton players from 33 club teams across China gathered in Zhengzhou to compete in the 2026 Chinese Badminton Association Amateur Club League “Liang Cup” Finals, zhengguannews.cn reported. Held from October 17 to 18 at Hall No. 1 of the Henan Workers’ Cultural and Sports Center in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, the tournament serves as the national championship for amateur club play and offers the top four teams in Group A direct entry into the 2027 Chinese Badminton Association Tier 2 Club League.
Zhengzhou Welcomes 33 Club Teams for National Amateur Showdown
The two-day tournament features mixed team competition across multiple formats. Established in 2006, the league stands as one of the country’s largest and most prestigious amateur badminton团体 tournaments. Matches are split into regional qualifiers and the final stage. The competition is divided into three distinct brackets based on player skill levels: Group A, which features a five-match format covering men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles; alongside Group B and Group C, which both utilize a three-match format comprising men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Regional Qualifiers Feed Elite National Finalists
The 33 qualifying clubs competing in Zhengzhou earned their berths by finishing in the top eight of their respective groups during the four regional qualifiers held earlier in the year in Jiaxing, Zhejiang; Lianyungang, Jiangsu; Changsha, Hunan; and Changchun, Jilin. The tournament is hosted by the Chinese Badminton Association and organized by the Zhengzhou Badminton Association. According to Zhengzhou Badminton Association Secretary-General Zhao Feng, the successful staging of the finals reinforces the city’s sports organizational capabilities and drives the growth of grassroots badminton under national fitness initiatives.

Advancement Paths and Prizes at the Henan Workers Center
Beyond the four coveted promotion spots into the Tier 2 professional pyramid for Group A finalists, the tournament awards trophies, medals, certificates, and cash prizes to the top three teams in each group. Teams placing fourth and tying for fifth receive official certificates, while all participating athletes earn points toward the Chinese Badminton Association’s national fitness ranking system. The event concludes its championship schedule on October 18 without any subsequent matches remaining on the immediate national amateur calendar.
