TURA Harksheide’s judo squad competed at the Wolfgang Frank Cup in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel, securing two gold, one silver, and multiple bronze finishes across several age divisions, Stadtmagazin.SH reported. The tournament brought together youth competitors from the U9, U11, U13, and U15 age groups on September 27.
Wolfgang Frank Cup Medal Count and Division Champions
The Norderstedt-based club sent a large delegation to the mats under the guidance of coaches Jens Hinsch and Marcel Fürtig. Two athletes climbed to the top of the podium to capture gold medals in their respective brackets: Levi Hinsch triumphed in the U9 division, while Lorenz Kidmann secured the 1. Platz in the U13 category. Sila Altinok added to the medal haul by fighting her way to a second-place finish in the U13 bracket, bringing home silver.
Deep Bronze Representation Across U9 to U15 Brackets
TURA’s strongest showing came in the third-place matches, where a dozen competitors earned bronze medals. The U9 bronze-winning contingent featured Theo Zao, Emil Sependassa, Vida Wagner, and Diaco Farajollahi. Hilla Austen and Leon Schmidt secured bronze in the U11 division. In the U13 category, Mads Engelhardt, David Tataev, and Lukas Tataev all finished on the podium, alongside Khatuna Tataev, who claimed bronze in the U15 tournament.
Competitors Overcoming Tournament Setbacks
Not every athlete from the Norderstedt delegation reached the podium during the competition. Leo Finger in the U9 division, alongside U11 competitors Lina Schwarzwald, Max Tepp, and Amira Frenzel, exited the tournament without medals. The club noted that competitors Jonte Lehmann, Jake Wendeler, Noah Li, and Tom Franke also missed out on podium finishes across the U13 and U15 brackets.
Coaching Staff Reflection on Youth Development
Coaches Jens Hinsch and Marcel Fürtig accompanied the young athletes throughout the day, providing mat-side support and encouragement. Team management emphasized that experiencing losses alongside victories forms a core part of athletic development in judo, praising the entire roster for stepping onto the mat and testing themselves against regional opponents.
