Mirra Andreeva advanced to the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing on Saturday by defeating Czech player Nikola Bartunkova in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, as reported by Eurosport.
Andreeva Secures Straight-Set Victory in Beijing Semifinal
The 19-year-old Russian player needed little time to dispatch her opponent on the hard courts in the Chinese capital, according to match reports from Eurosport and Le Figaro. Andreeva, who currently holds the fifth spot in the WTA world rankings and won the French Open at Roland-Garros, took control of the opening set by winning the first four games. Although Bartunkova managed to break back during the first set, Andreeva maintained her momentum to close out the opening frame and comfortably took the second set after breaking serve at 2-1.
Her previous title matches at this level include tournament victories in Dubai and Indian Wells in 2025, alongside a runner-up finish in Madrid in 2026. This latest deep run guarantees that the young Siberian will achieve a new career-high singles ranking of third in the world when the updated WTA standings are released following the tournament.
Bartunkova Breakthrough and Upcoming Title Clash
For twenty-year-old Nikola Bartunkova, the semifinal run in Beijing represents a significant milestone despite the straight-set defeat. Competing as a novice at the WTA 1000 semifinal level, the Czech player earned notable victories earlier in the tournament against world number two Aryna Sabalenka and eighth-ranked Karolina Muchova, as detailed by Le Figaro. Those performances ensure that Bartunkova will break into the top 30 of the WTA rankings for the first time in her career.

With her place in the championship match secured, Andreeva awaits the winner of the second semifinal between Belgium’s Elise Mertens, ranked 19th, and China’s Zheng Qinwen, ranked 54th. That match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM local French time on Sunday, setting up the final showdown for the Beijing title.
