Dafne Alexia Cuapio Mendoza, a 15-year-old archer from Tlaxcala, secured two silver medals at the World Archery México Championship 2026 in Mexico City, finishing second in both the individual and team events. Hailing from Santa Ana Chiautempan, the young athlete competed against opponents from Querétaro in the individual bracket and faced archers from Querétaro and Nuevo León in the team tournament, according to local reporting.
Silver Medals in Mexico City
In the individual discipline, she squared off directly against representatives from Querétaro. In the team events, her squad matched up against combined entries from Querétaro and Nuevo León.
“I felt very happy and proud that all my effort and work bore fruit,” Cuapio said of her double-podium performance in the capital.
Olimpiada Nacional Experience at 50 Meters
Before her success at the international-level championship in Mexico City, Cuapio competed at the Olimpiada Nacional 2026, shooting at a distance of 50 meters. While she acknowledged that pre-match nerves and the high caliber of her competitors created a formidable challenge, she viewed the outing as an essential stepping stone in her athletic development.

Cuapio took up archery just two years ago as a casual pastime. Her growing interest in formal competition quickly turned the hobby into a dedicated pursuit, with Mexican Olympians Ana Paula Vázquez and Alejandra Valencia serving as her primary inspirations in the sport.
Preparation for the Torneo Calaveras 2026
Looking ahead, Cuapio is already training for her next competitive test. She is scheduled to compete in the Torneo de Tiro con Arco “Calaveras 2026”, which takes place from October 30 to November 1 in Aguascalientes.
Reflecting on her journey, she offered advice to others entering the sport: “Enjoy it and never give up; there are always adversities, but we must learn to overcome them.”
