Catalina Garay shot a 587 in qualifying and advanced through the elimination brackets to finish second in the Under-18 recurve division at the Sociedad Rural de Villa María. Representing the Agrupación Tiro con Arco General La Madrid, the young archer claimed the national runner-up position during the weekend tournament organized by the Escuela de Arquería Villa María Asociación Civil.
The competition drew youth competitors from across Argentina to the Córdoba province venue for the 2026 edition of the national youth showcase. Garay established her rhythm early in the qualification round, posting a two-stage total of 587 points with a 289 in her first round followed by a 298 in her second round to lock down the second seed in the general standings.
Elimination Rounds and the Gold Medal Match
Moving out of qualification and into the head-to-head elimination phase, Garay navigated the semifinal bracket successfully to set up a title clash. In the gold medal match for the JP Recurvo Sub 18 40-meter category, she faced Constantino Humhofe representing the Nuevos Comienzos club.
Humhofe ultimately secured the top step of the podium, leaving Garay with a second-place finish and the silver medal.

Progression Through Regional and National Divisions
Early in her competitive pathway, Garay focused primarily on barebow events without optical sighting aids.
In March 2024, she earned a third-place finish in the E20 school barebow category at a federated tournament in Tandil. Later that year, she transitioned to 3D archery, taking first place in her division at the Bonaerense Championship held in Pigüé.
Entering the 2025 and 2026 seasons, Garay shifted her focus to the Olympic recurve discipline. That transition yielded a second-place finish in the Sub-18 40-meter recurve category during a national tournament held at the Municipal Sports Center in General La Madrid in May 2026. She competes nationally as part of the official roster maintained by the Federación Argentina de Tiro con Arco.
