BSC Schwerin Wins 14 Titles at State Badminton Championships

The Schweriner Badminton-Sport-Club dominated the state championships in Bergen on Rügen, capturing 14 titles, six silver medals, and five bronze medals to shatter its own medal record.

That haul established the club as the most successful organization in the regional association. It leaves an open question of whether this regional momentum will translate to the national stage when top qualifiers converge in Berlin.

Over an eight-hour span, more than 90 young athletes from across Mecklenburg-Vorpommern competed across five age divisions.

Matches unfolded in singles, doubles, and mixed disciplines. Unlike tennis, badminton treats doubles as equally prestigious to individual play, resulting in 22 total contested titles across the tournament schedule.

The Capital Club’s Engine

The capital club’s dominance stemmed from its standing as one of the region’s largest organizations.

It is backed by experienced coaching staff and a youth roster featuring seven players active on national and northern German circuits.

Standout Competitors and Golden Triples

Roman Pokrasen, Bruno Seichter, Lea Alexa Möller, and siblings Helene and Josephine Hermann each claimed three podium finishes, including two titles apiece.

Charlotte Dettmann and Emil Hermann surpassed that mark by securing championship triples, capturing the maximum possible gold medals in their respective brackets.

A Clean Sweep and the Road to Berlin

All 14 competing Schweriner athletes secured at least one medal. That clean sweep drew praise from the coaching staff.

The results set a strong benchmark for the upcoming North German Championships scheduled for November 7 and 8 in Berlin, where top qualifiers from the 8 northern federal states will converge.
