Aragon Badminton Championships and Navarra Master Success for Local Players

Nerea Marco and Jorge Foj captured regional titles across the under-19 and under-15 divisions as Huesca hosted the Aragonese badminton championships. Regional reports detail a busy Saturday of competition featuring multiple draws and categories at the venue, drawing players from across the Alto Aragón province and beyond for singles, doubles, and veteran events.

Nerea Marco and Jorge Foj Lead Aragonese Champions in Huesca

The under-19 tournament highlighted local success through the performance of Binéfar’s Nerea Marco. Marco claimed the women’s singles crown after navigating a three-player round-robin group. She then partnered with José Alberto Borjas to secure the mixed doubles title. In the men’s doubles draw, Huesca representatives Daniel Coronas and Fernando Mur earned the championship honors.

In the under-15 bracket, Jorge Foj of Binéfar claimed the boys’ singles title through a combination of group play and knockout rounds. Foj added a second gold medal by winning the doubles competition alongside local player Andrés Oliva from Huesca.

Veteran Draws and Provincial Title Winners

The veteran divisions saw multiple titles stay within the province. In the singles categories, victories went to Mario Casterad of VV Osca in the A1 division, Javier Coronas of Huesca in the B1-B2 bracket, Belén Foj of Binéfar in the women’s B1-B2 section, and Alberto Rodríguez of Huesca in the C1-C2 group.

Doubles competition in the veteran ranks produced five distinct winning pairs. Javier Coronas and Eduardo Marco took the A1-A2 title, while Alfredo Machín and Alberto Rodríguez prevailed in the B2-C1 category. Additional veteran doubles champions included Merche Audina and Shan Lin in A1-A2, Estefanía Barrabés and Mario Casterad in A1, and Belén Foj paired again with Eduardo Marco to win the B1-B2 crown.

Navigating the Master Territorial de Navarra

Away from the home championship brackets, Aragonese and regional players also contested the Master Territorial de Navarra. Emma Nievedes and Aitana Tejeiro met in the final of the under-19 girls’ singles after both athletes advanced through three preliminary rounds. Tejeiro defeated Nievedes in straight sets, 21-14, 21-15, to take the title.

Nievedes rebounded in the under-15 mixed doubles tournament, partnering with Demetrio Pinto to win the final against local competitors Lucía and Daniel Chasco with a score of 21-12, 21-10. Tejeiro also reached the under-19 doubles final alongside Rocío González, though the pair finished as runners-up.

Remaining Questions From the Regional Circuit

Regional sports authorities have not yet confirmed the exact dates or host venues for the subsequent phases of the Aragonese badminton calendar, nor has the regional federation announced whether the winners from Huesca will receive automatic qualification bids for upcoming national youth circuit events.
