Brandenburg’s Young Judo Prospects Face Months of Scrutiny
Young judo athletes in Brandenburg underwent a demanding series of athletic, medical, and technical evaluations as the Brandenburgischer Judo-Verband prepared its next generation of talent for regional and national competition. The rigorous assessment process, designed to evaluate potential sports school students, spanned multiple months and testing locations across the region.
Preparatory Screening Camps in Potsdam and Frankfurt
The talent identification process began earlier in the year with preparatory screening camps held in April in Potsdam and at the beginning of September in Frankfurt (Oder). These initial sessions allowed association coaches to observe interested athletes closely and prepare them for the subsequent, more intensive phases of evaluation.
A Grueling Full-Day Trial on the Kienbaum Track
The evaluation culminated in a grueling full-day session at Kienbaum that extended until 8 p.m. Proceedings began sharply at 10 a.m. on the 400-meter running track with a standard Cooper test to gauge cardiovascular endurance. Following a thorough warmup, the young athletes transitioned into the judo hall to complete a comprehensive mobility assessment.
Training Alongside the National U18 Cadre
Timing at the Kienbaum facility placed the prospective sports school students alongside the under-18 German Judo Federation squad, who were conducting a training camp under the direction of the national coach. The simultaneous schedules allowed the younger prospects to interact and exchange greetings with athletes who are already a few steps ahead in their competitive development.
Pushing Physical Limits in Athletics and Gymnastics
Following a midday break, the testing shifted focus to athletic performance and gymnastics capabilities. Coaches subjected the competitors to rigorous examinations designed to push each individual toward their physical limits and measure maximum output across foundational movement patterns.
