Badmintonvereniging Twenterand Offers Free Intro Lessons from October

Badmintonvereniging Twenterand is launching its annual autumn introductory badminton lessons for adults and teenagers starting at age 16, deltafm.nl reported. The club-led program relies on the Dutch badminton federation’s START initiative to bring new players onto the court during the darker months of the year.

Badminton Sessions in Den Ham and Vroomshoop

Training sessions take place across two municipal sports facilities in the Twenterand municipality. Participants can choose between sporthal ‘De Beukenhage’ in Den Ham and ‘Het Punt’ in Vroomshoop. The seven-week program pairs novices with experienced club trainers and members to teach the basic mechanics of striking a shuttlecock in an accessible environment.

Organizers require no prior experience for the program. New participants step onto the court and begin playing on the very first evening, according to deltafm.nl. The initiative aims to introduce indoor sports to residents looking for physical activity as outdoor seasons wind down.

Weekly Sessions Begin in October with Final Tournaments

The weekly sessions start in October. The opening night at De Beukenhage in Den Ham takes place on Tuesday, October 20, starting at 19:30 local time. The opening night at Het Punt in Vroomshoop follows on Wednesday, October 21, starting at 20:00 local time.

The introductory run concludes with a social tournament, known locally as a toss-avond. The final sessions run on Tuesday, December 8, in Den Ham and Wednesday, December 9, in Vroomshoop. These internal club tournaments give beginners a chance to demonstrate the skills they acquired over the seven-week course.

START Program Is Free for Players Aged 16 Plus

Participation in the START program is entirely free of charge for anyone aged 16 and older. Prospective players can find complete registration details and schedule updates directly on the Badmintonvereniging Twenterand START portal.
