The victory lifts BCL-J1—competing under the team name BCL-J1/Bouw Baar Beheer—into third place in the standings following earlier losses to BC Gilze and BC Alouette in Badminton Nederland’s single-phase national youth competition.
Overcoming Early Season Hurdles Against BC Reeshof
Facing BC Reeshof’s fourth youth team, Lieshout capitalized on growing team form to dominate the matchup 5-1. While Siebe Klomp dropped his single match against Mawin Ayeeranant, he bounced back in the doubles. Klomp partnered with Asja Timmers to take a 21-15, 21-12 win, and later teamed up with Teun Scheepers to secure a 21-12, 21-9 victory. The decisive result moves the Lieshout side up to third in the division table.
Tough Openers Against Gilze and Alouette Set the Tone
The campaign began with difficult fixtures against top-tier division opponents. In the season opener away at BC Gilze, BCL-J1 fell 6-0. Despite the heavy scoreline, the Lieshout players pushed deep into sets, scoring at least 10 points in every frame and narrowly dropping a set 21-19. Hilke Klomp and Asja Timmers came closest to a point in their doubles encounter before yielding to Onyx Vermeulen and Luuk van Dongen.
