Rajasthan shuttlers experienced mixed fortunes on Day 2 of the All India Sub-Junior U-15 and U-17 Ranking Badminton Tournament at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur, with eight home-state players advancing to the main draw while numerous others saw their campaigns end. The tournament featured intense qualifying action on Friday that stretched late into the night, setting the stage for approximately 500 matches scheduled for Saturday.
Satvik Agarwal and Main Draw Qualifiers Advance in Jaipur
In the under-17 boys’ singles competition, Jaipur left-hander Satvik Agarwal secured his place in the third round of qualifying by defeating Vishagra of Gujarat 15-8, 15-9. Agarwal was joined by fellow Rajasthan competitors Utkarsh Singh Rathore, Siddhant Dev, Lakshyaraj Singh Nathawat, Manas Parwal, and Aryan Prajapat in winning the early rounds.
Additional qualifying breakthroughs for the home contingent came through Aradhya Soni, Khushi Sharma, Riddhi Batra, and Kavya Chaudhary. Manas Parwal advanced past Chandigarh player Aryadev Singh with a 15-5, 15-10 scoreline, while Aryan Prajapat overcame Madhya Pradesh competitor Siddhant Gurve 15-12, 10-15, 15-6 in a three-game battle.
Contrasting Fortunes Across Under-15 and Under-17 Categories
While several home favorites advanced, the tournament also witnessed the elimination of a substantial group of Rajasthan representatives in the singles brackets. The singles journeys for Aarav Agarwal, Aarin, Sanvi Agarwal, Khushi Rathi, Aaradhya Bishnoi, Aditya Narayan, Burhanuddin Hasan, and Mahi Saini concluded during Friday’s qualifying sessions.
Further singles exits for the home state included Vivan Dutta, Rudra Devanda, Tuheen Badal, Miraya Fageria, Devina Sharma, Shugan Tonk, Lakshya Devanda, Sakshi Singh, and Swaraj Taksali. In the under-15 girls’ division, Khushi dismissed Saina of Maharashtra 15-7, 15-9, and Riddhi Batra recorded a dominant 15-2, 15-3 win against Rishika Rasal, also of Maharashtra.
Matches Continue Ahead of Saturday Schedule
Additional results in the under-15 and under-17 brackets saw Utkarsh Rathore defeat Haryana’s Utkarsh Chauhan 15-10, 15-5, and Siddhant Dev overcome Om of Uttarakhand 15-9, 15-13. Lakshyaraj Singh Nathawat claimed a tight 17-15, 15-8 victory against Nishchay Gargi of Telangana, while Aaradhya defeated Dichoom Likha of Arunachal Pradesh 15-8, 15-11.
Kavya Chaudhary advanced via a walkover against Manya MP of Telangana, whereas Navishti Maheshwari fell to Telangana competitor Situ Sai KN 13-15, 8-15. With Friday’s matches extending late into the night, tournament organizers prepared for a packed slate of approximately 500 matches scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium.
