Archers du May-Énergie host inaugural indoor archery event

The Archers du May-Énergie association, established in 2025, hosted its inaugural official indoor archery competition across the weekend of October 17 and 18, drawing one hundred competitors from regional clubs.

Archery Club Hosts Inaugural Competition

The newly formed club, which typically trains at the Beignon hall on Honoré-Neveu street, utilized Hall 1 of the local sports complex for the weekend event. The venue accommodated an 18-meter shooting setup featuring eight, ten, and twelve targets. Competitors on the shooting line represented a mix of disciplines, including compound bows with sights, recurve bows with sights, and barebow categories.

Atmospheric control remained a primary focus inside the competition space. A participant from the host club noted that ambient sound management is crucial during events, explaining that sudden noise can disrupt a shooter’s focus on the line.

Regional Turnout Reaches One Hundred Competitors

Club president Christophe Robet confirmed that the two-day event drew one hundred licensed archers. Participants traveled from clubs across Angers, Cholet, and Saumur, as well as from the Deux-Sèvres and Vendée departments.

The roster of competitors included a French champion from the Cholet club. Robet characterized the strong regional attendance as significant validation for the young association, which maintains a local membership base of twenty-six archers.

Outdoor Facility Plans Target Future Growth

Following the successful execution of the indoor tournament, Robet outlined future ambitions for the association. An active proponent of field archery, the club president stated that his primary goal is securing an outdoor training ground to allow members to practice safely in an open-air environment.
