Porto San Giorgio Hosts 5th Annual Sports Festival: 50 Clubs to Showcase Activities

Porto San Giorgio Prepares for the Fifth Edition of the Annual Festa dello Sport

Porto San Giorgio is set to host the fifth edition of its annual Festa dello Sport on Sunday, 13, bringing together 50 local sports organizations for a day of public exhibitions, according to details released during a municipal press conference covered by Cronache Fermane. The event, scheduled just days before the start of the school year, transforms the city’s central seafront and Piazza Bambinopoli into an open-air arena designed to showcase regional athletic opportunities ranging from volleyball and tennis to Paralympic fencing and wheelchair basketball.

Comprehensive Event Programming and Safety Logistics

Official programming for the festival begins at 15:00 local time, though road closures along the seafront—stretching from Via Veneto to Via M. Polo—take effect earlier in the day at 09:00, as detailed by city officials. Fabio Senzacqua, the assessor with delegation for sport, noted during the presentation that the 2026 itinerary features more than 24 distinct disciplines available for youth participants to try firsthand. In addition to athletic demonstrations at Piazzetta Silenzi starting at 16:00, the layout includes safety and community exhibits featuring local police, the Croce Azzurra, a canine unit, and the National Firefighters Association with its children-focused “Grisulandia” program. A preliminary cultural event is also scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Sala Imperatori to discuss sports-related literature.

Civic Leadership and Municipal Facility Upgrades

Mayor Valerio Vesprini emphasized the community-wide collaboration behind the festival, highlighting that the event marks the conclusion of Porto San Giorgio’s busy summer season, which encompassed over 150 different initiatives. City administration officials, including municipal and provincial councilor Giulia Vagnozzi and assessors Alessandra Petracci and Giampiero Marcattili, as well as councilor Giammarini, coordinated the extensive logistics. Addressing local infrastructure needs during the conference, Mayor Vesprini confirmed that energy-efficiency renovation work on the town’s main sports hall, the palasport, is on track for completion by October. Additional project proposals have been submitted to the Gse to secure funding for further upgrades at the Nardi, Borgo Rosselli, and Baldassari gymnasiums.
