Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll has been named the club’s official nominee for the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award, according to the Diamondbacks, recognizing his extensive community impact and philanthropic efforts throughout Arizona.
Honored for Work Off the Field
The Roberto Clemente Award stands as one of the most prestigious accolades in baseball. It annually honors the player who best represents the sport through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy, and positive contributions both on and off the field. According to the Diamondbacks, Carroll earned the club’s nomination for the second season, driven by his widespread commitment to local youth initiatives and charitable programs.
Since making his Major League debut in 2022, the three-time All-Star, National League Rookie of the Year, and Silver Slugger Award winner has established himself just as firmly in the Phoenix community as he has in the batter’s box. Through his CC7 Charitable Fund, established in partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation, Carroll has directed more than $150,000 toward projects and programs designed to create new opportunities for children across the state.
Surprising the Next Generation of Ballplayers
A cornerstone of Carroll’s community work involves championing the D-backs Nike RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) program in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley. The program supports young athletes who frequently face financial barriers to participating in organized sports. In a recent gesture highlighting his hands-on approach, Carroll paid a surprise visit to local baseball and softball teams, presenting the young players with personalized uniforms and professional equipment during a Major League clubhouse experience.
His equipment and apparel initiatives extend across the Valley. When he learned that local student-athletes were arriving at high-school tryouts without proper footwear, he supplied 160 pairs of new Nike cleats. Beyond the diamond, Carroll teamed up with literacy advocates to place 10,000 STEM-themed storybooks into the hands of elementary students, starring a character illustrated as a “STEM Superhero,” and regularly visits local schools to read with students.
Deep Personal Connections in the Community
Manager Torey Lovullo emphasized that Carroll’s impact reaches well beyond high-profile donations, pointing to quiet hospital visits and private gestures of encouragement. Last season, upon learning that a young baseball fan named Dalton had returned to the Little League field following months of treatment for a life-threatening heart condition, Carroll showed up unannounced at his game to support him. He also forged a bond with Chris, a local ballplayer partially paralyzed in a severe car crash, urging him to finish high school and pursue his ambitions.
“Corbin is just such an unbelievable human being,” Lovullo said, according to the Diamondbacks. “He gives his time and his effort on and off the field to those that he feels like he can impact lives, and he’s a great person. So for him to be our nominee, it’s a semi-no-brainer. Corbin is just a very, very kind soul, who cares about others as much as I’ve ever seen, and then happens to be a really dynamic baseball player.”
Fan Voting and the National Selection Process
All 30 Major League Baseball franchises nominate one player annually. The ultimate winner of the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award will be decided by a blue-ribbon panel that includes representatives from the Commissioner’s Office, MLB.com, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and members of Roberto Clemente’s family: Enrique, Luis, and Roberto Clemente Jr.
