Musiala Marks Startelf Comeback With Opening Goal

Jamal Musiala marked his return to the starting lineup with a crucial breakthrough just after halftime. In the 47th minute, a deflected distance shot from Harry Kane fell directly to the 23-year-old. Musiala spun and drove an unstoppable shot into the far corner to break the deadlock, providing the spark manager Vincent Kompany needed.

The appearance marked a significant milestone for Musiala after health concerns during the summer preparation period. He had suffered episodes involving neurological dysfunctions during preseason friendlies against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim. After logging 33 minutes off the bench in a scoreless draw against FC Schalke 04 over the weekend, Kompany inserted the playmaker straight into the starting XI against the Norwegian visitors.

The victory preserves a remarkable run for the Munich club. Bayern has now won its opening match in European competition for 23 years. The club’s last defeat in a season opener dates back to a 3-2 loss against Deportivo La Coruña in the 2002/03 season.

Kompany stated ahead of the fixture that the team’s clear objective must be winning the Champions League title this season, emphasizing that he welcomes direct statements regarding such ambitions.
