Hanoi’s archery team is entering the final stage of its preparations for the 10th National Sports Games, targeting the top spot after finishing runners-up earlier this year, according to local reporting.
At the Hanoi Sport Training and Competition Center, 27 athletes are sharpening their technique across four main disciplines: men’s and women’s recurve and triple bow events. Archers are competing over distances ranging from 30 to 90 meters in both individual and team formats. Cap Manh Tan, head of the archery department at the center and team coach, stated that the squad’s preparation is 99 percent complete.
Training Abroad and Roster Adjustments
Following the return of athletes from the 2026 Asian Games, the team scheduled a 15-day training camp in Thailand before heading to Ho Chi Minh City. The international camp aims to expose archers to high-level environments and help them adapt to competitive pressure.
The squad faces a notable personnel shift for these Games. Do Thi Anh Nguyet is taking a temporary break due to family matters, leaving the coaching staff to lean on younger prospects. The women’s roster features Trieu Huyen Diep, Hoang Phuong Thao, and Tran Thi Tra My, while Tran Xuan Huong, Nguyen Minh Huy, and Duong Dai Vy lead the men’s side.
Domestic Rivalry and Youth Integration
Competition on the national stage has intensified as other local authorities increase their investments. At the National Team Archery Championship in August 2026, Ho Chi Minh City claimed first place with 11 gold medals, relegating Hanoi to second place.
Lai Phuc Loc, deputy director of the Hanoi Sport Training and Competition Center, noted that the sport’s limited medal pool compared to sports where weight or age categories are defined increases the pressure on every shot. He highlighted a strong contingent of athletes born in 2005 who are stepping up to replace veterans, ensuring long-term competitiveness alongside immediate goals.
Support Systems and Funding
Dinh Van Luyen, director of the center, outlined that facility preparations include equipment, nutrition, medical care, and foreign expertise. Furthermore, Resolution No. 82/2026/NQ-HĐND from the Hanoi People’s Council introduces enhanced salaries, nutrition allowances, healthcare, and bonuses for municipal team members.
The archery competition at the 10th National Sports Games is officially scheduled to run from November 20 to November 30, 2026.
