Ajax has reached an agreement to partner with the Persatuan Sepak Bola Seluruh Indonesia (PSSI), establishing a collaborative football development program across the Southeast Asian nation.
Modernizing Youth Systems and Coach Education
Under the terms of the newly announced partnership, Ajax and the Indonesian football governing body will roll out a comprehensive, nationwide program designed to train local players using the Dutch club’s renowned academy philosophy. To maximize structural impact throughout the country, Ajax will focus heavily on coach education, ensuring local trainers and professionals gain direct access to proper Ajax methodology.
PSSI President Erick Thohir emphasized that while football remains the most popular sport in Indonesia, the country faces ongoing structural challenges within its youth development system that the partnership aims to address.
Bridging History Across an International Network
The collaboration bridges a unique historical connection between Dutch football and Indonesia, building on years of dialogue between the two organizations. With this agreement, PSSI officially joins Ajax’s expansive international football network, which already includes partner clubs in Mexico, Austria, Italy, Spain, Greece, Uzbekistan, and Japan.
Global Strategy and Talent Incubation
Ajax General Director Menno Geelen noted that the club aims to maintain its standing among the world’s top talent incubators by sharing institutional knowledge in high-potential markets characterized by deep-rooted football passion.
On-Site Leadership and Immediate Rollout
Menno Geelen is scheduled to attend the domestic league fixture between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung.
