Nearly fifty archers gathered under warm skies on the grass of the Estadio Municipal for the XL Trofeo de Fiestas “Ciudad de Tarancón” de Tiro con Arco, according to local coverage of the event. The traditional tournament, marking its 40th edition, brought together competitors from a wide array of clubs to contest divisions ranging from 18 to 60 meters, depending on category and bow type.
Conditions Favor Strong Scores at Municipal Stadium
Weather conditions on the morning of the competition proved favorable for high-level shooting, with sources noting a lack of wind that helped athletes post strong marks. Competitors traveled from across the region and beyond, representing clubs such as Águila Imperial, Albacete, Arqueros Ribereños, Las Lomas, Valdelux, Itarco, Arcoischadia, Alcalá del Júcar, Guadalajara, Sagitta, Arcocuenca, Arqueros de Daimiel, alongside athletes from the local Escuela de Tiro con Arco. Jose Luis Córdoba Moreno served as the judge for the tournament.
Podium Finishes Across Disciplines
The awards ceremony took place in the indoor archery room of the Estadio Municipal. Dignitaries present for the presentations included the Corte de Honor of the patron saint festivities, local neighborhood representatives, and representatives for seniors and children. They were joined by sports councilman Jose V. Hontana and festivities and traditions councilman Juan M. Castejón Cortés.
In the compound bow senior mixed division, Adolfo Castañón Álvarez of Águila Imperial took first place with 659 points and 25 golds, followed by clubmate Joaquin Alejo Fernández with 642 points and 22 golds, and Camelia Badea Vetu in third with 626 points and 16 golds. In the recurve novel mixed category, local competitor Valentín Guerrero Cañete claimed first with 364 points and two golds, ahead of fellow Tarancón shooter Lorena Cuenca Ramírez.
Alfonso García Burgos of Arqueros Ribereños won the senior longbow mixed division with 598 points and 12 golds, edging out María Juliana Jaén Lorenzo of Las Lomas at 555 points and Rafael José García Martínez of Valdeluz at 552 points among a field of eight classified shooters. In veteran recurve mixed, Anselmo Pulgar Moraleda of Águila Imperial took the top spot with 581 points, ahead of Juan Antonio Miguel Olmedo of Arcoischadia and Begoña Penas Gutiérrez.
Additional category winners included Miguel Gómez de la Ossa of Arco Tarancón in the recurve benjamín division with 626 points and seven golds. In senior traditional mixed, Gonzalo Serrano Jismero of Arco Tarancón placed first with 405 points, followed by Mónica Ortega Fernández of Arqueros Ribereños and Rebeca García Urbaneja of Guadalajara. Daniel Socias Gude of Arcocuenca captured the senior male recurve class with 529 points, ahead of José Ignacio Correa Fernández and José María Párraga Villanueva.
In senior barebow mixed, Diego Ocaña González of Arcocuenca won with 539 points, followed by Rubén García Fuertes and Moreyba Martín Leal. Finally, in veteran traditional, Eloy Martínez López of Guadalajara took first place with 520 points, ahead of Ventura Carrión López and José Manuel Carrión López of Arqueros Daimiel.
