13-Year-Old Snowboarder Ibon Baskaran Exceeds Expectations in Breakout Season
Ibon Baskaran, a 13-year-old snowboarder from Elgoibar residing in Deba, has concluded an exceptional season marked by numerous victories and podium finishes across multiple snowboarding disciplines in both national and French circuits.
The young athlete, who competes in the Sub-15 category as the youngest participant, approached the season with the intention of learning from older competitors but ended up achieving far more than anticipated.
According to Baskaran himself, he entered the season with the mindset of learning from more experienced riders, stating: “Afronté la temporada con la idea de aprender de los mayores; no esperaba tantas victorias.”
Despite being the youngest in his age group, Baskaran competed at a high level throughout the season, securing wins and podium placements in nearly every event he participated in.
His performance has drawn attention from both sides of the Pyrenees, establishing him as one of the prominent young talents in Basque and national snowboarding.
Baskaran has been consistently achieving strong results in various snowboarding disciplines since early 2022, but his accomplishments this past season surpassed even his own expectations.
