Zbrojovka Brno Strengthens League Lead with Vorlický-Inspired Victory
BRNO, CZECH REPUBLIC – A second-half surge, sparked by a goal from Lukáš Vorlický, propelled FC Zbrojovka Brno to a 2-0 victory over Artis Brno in a crucial Czech National League match on Monday. The win solidifies Zbrojovka’s position atop the league table, moving them closer to a potential promotion to the Czech First League.
The match began cautiously, with Zbrojovka, fueled by a passionate home crowd at Srbská Street, taking the initial initiative. However, Artis gradually gained momentum, creating the first significant chance of the game in the 31st minute when Dahman’s dangerous header was expertly saved by Zbrojovka goalkeeper Adam Hrdina. Artis continued to press before halftime, but Adediran’s header sailed just wide of the target.
The complexion of the match shifted dramatically just before the break. A reckless challenge by Artis’s Radim Breite, involving an elbow to Rymarenko, earned the midfielder a second yellow card and a subsequent red card, leaving Artis to play the remainder of the match with ten men.

Responding to the numerical disadvantage, Zbrojovka manager Martin Svědík introduced Lukáš Vorlický, a key attacking player who had seen limited playing time in the previous two matches. Vorlický immediately injected creativity into the attack, causing problems for the Artis defense, though his teammates initially struggled to capitalize on his opportunities.
Zbrojovka continued to build pressure, with Granečný hitting the crossbar. Artis briefly threatened on a counterattack in the 77th minute, but Hrdina produced a fine save to deny Vukadinović.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 81st minute. Vorlický skillfully dribbled into the penalty area and, despite being marked, fired a shot past Artis goalkeeper Bork and defender Jeřábek to open the scoring. It was Vorlický’s first goal since late September, when he scored for Slavia Prague B against Zbrojovka.
Four minutes later, Martin Gjorgievski sealed the victory, heading home a cross from Juroška. The result further strengthens Zbrojovka’s pursuit of promotion to the Czech First League, while complicating Artis’s hopes of securing a playoff spot.
