Kägiswil, Switzerland – Alpine skiing star Marco Odermatt has invested in the Innerschweiz-based startup Gaisbock, a company developing a new line of sports care products. The move, reported by the Sonntags Zeitung, sees Odermatt acquiring a 10-20 percent stake in the firm and draws parallels to Roger Federer’s early investment in the running shoe manufacturer On.
The 28-year-old Odermatt, currently dominating the World Cup circuit, isn’t simply a passive investor. He’s actively involved, with plans to test and provide feedback on Gaisbock’s new products, leveraging his experience at the highest level of competitive skiing. According to Odermatt, the decision to invest stemmed from a 90-minute conversation with Gaisbock founder and former cross-country skier Ramon Riebli. “Ramon’s passion reminded me strongly of the beginnings of my own career, when I had big goals,” Odermatt told the Sonntags Zeitung. He emphasized that the investment is a “heartfelt matter with cool people, it’s not just about the money.”
Gaisbock, founded three years ago, currently sells deodorants, shower gels, boxer shorts, and socks. The company is now expanding into sports serums designed to aid in muscle recovery and activation. These products are formulated as cosmetics, not pharmaceuticals, and are developed, manufactured, and bottled in Büron, in the canton of Lucerne, Switzerland.
The serums, priced at 59.90 Swiss francs (approximately $67 USD as of March 29, 2026), are positioned as a premium offering compared to established recovery gels like Perskindol Hot-Gel (18.05 Swiss francs per 100ml) and Dul-X (14.30 Swiss francs per 100ml). The higher price point reflects a focus on specialized formulation and Swiss-made quality.
Drawing Inspiration from Federer and On
The Gaisbock team openly acknowledges the success story of Roger Federer and On as a source of inspiration. Federer’s early investment in On helped propel the Swiss running shoe brand to international recognition, demonstrating the potential for athlete-backed ventures.
