VALMIERA, Latvia – A specialized floorball training camp, sponsored by FLOORBALLSHOP.LV and held in conjunction with the BLINDSAVE international goalie camp, is set to take place in Valmiera, Latvia, from June 26th to 28th. The camp will focus on skill development for field players, offering intensive training opportunities led by top Latvian national team players and experienced coaches from across Europe.
The camp aims to provide participants with hundreds of shooting repetitions and refine their shooting technique under the guidance of leading players from the Latvian national team. Organizers anticipate welcoming athletes not only from Latvia but also from other countries, fostering an international training environment.
Recognizing that scoring goals is paramount in floorball, the camp will offer a unique opportunity for players to test their skills against approximately 60 goaltenders, each bringing a diverse range of playing styles from various nations. This exposure to different goaltending approaches is designed to enhance players’ adaptability and decision-making on the floor.
Leading the training sessions will be Latvian national team forwards Rolands Kovaļevskis and Pēteris Trekše, alongside seasoned goaltending coaches from Finland, Sweden, and the Czech Republic. This blend of offensive expertise and specialized goaltending instruction promises a comprehensive training experience.
“The main task of an attacker is to score goals, and to do so successfully, targeted training and continuous improvement of skills are necessary until they become instinctive,” said Rolands Kovaļevskis. “This camp is a great opportunity not only to improve technique but also to experience the resistance of international-level goaltenders, which is not possible to obtain in everyday training.”
The camp fee is €165, which includes professional coaching, accommodation at the “Naktsmājas” hotel, meals, and a camp T-shirt. This all-inclusive package aims to provide a seamless and focused training experience for all participants.
The camp is open to children and young people aged 12 and over. Interested individuals can register by completing an application form, available here.
The event is supported by the Latvian Floorball Association, FATPIPE, and BLINDSAVE, highlighting a collaborative effort to promote the development of floorball in Latvia and beyond. BLINDSAVE, a well-known name in floorball goalie equipment, offers a range of products including helmets, knee pads, and protective gear, as seen on their website here. They also offer goalie suits and equipment, as detailed on blindsave.com.
Valmiera, the host city, is recognized as one of the largest floorball centers in Latvia, making it an ideal location for the camp. The BLINDSAVE Goalie Camp, which runs concurrently, further solidifies Valmiera’s position as a hub for floorball development. The BLINDSAVE Goalie Camp has been running since 2012, attracting goalies from around the world, as noted on their camp page here.
