Flieden Hosts Successful Ninth Annual Badminton Freizeitturnier
FLIEDEN, Germany – The TV Flieden badminton department successfully concluded its ninth annual Badminton Freizeitturnier on Sunday evening, March 15, 2026. The tournament, designed for recreational players, drew a total of 66 participants competing in both Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles events.
The competition unfolded at the Kreissporthalle in Flieden, utilizing a five-round Swiss system tournament format. This system is lauded for its fairness, ensuring that no participant is eliminated early and that players consistently face opponents of similar skill levels, guaranteeing competitive matches.
In the Mixed Doubles category, Patra Burkart and Fabian Blum (TV Lauterbach) secured first place. Carina Hohmann and Alexander Scheich (TV Flieden) finished second, while Kerstin Borchard and Matthias Schmitt (TV Flieden) rounded out the podium in third.
The Men’s Doubles competition saw Aluri Pramod Kumar and Murthy Raghav (SG Deutsche Bank) emerge victorious. Manu Kamath and Sharif Ali Sachal claimed the second spot, and Cristian Hillebrandt and Olaf Hermel (Post- und Telekom Siegen) took third place.
