The first serve is getting closer. Soon the shuttlecocks will be flying again at the YONEX German open 2026 in the Westenergie sports hall.
Today we are giving an overview of the German participants.
Herreneinzel: The 3-time German champion Matthias Kicklitz from SV Fun Dortelweil meets the Finn Kalle Koljonen from Norway in the first round. The two have never met before. The Frenchman Christo Popov is in first place among the men. The Chinese Li Shi Feng starts from second place.
Im Ladies single there is no German participant at the start. Bjarne Geiss/Jones Jansen (Blau-Weiß Wipperfürth/BC Wipperfeld) compete in the men’s doubles alongside Malik Bourakkadi/Kenneth Neumann (TV Refrath/Blau-Weiß Wittorf). The newly crowned German champions in the men’s doubles Jonathan Dresp/Simon Krax (Blau-Weiß Wittorf/SV Fun Dortelweil) have to fight their way into the main draw via qualification.

Heimspiel

It will be a real home game for Malik Bourakkadi. The Mülheim native trained for many years at the base in Mülheim before moving to the federal base in Saarbrücken. Jonathan Dresp and Simon Krax, on the other hand, have been training at the federal base in Mülheim for some time. The two probably have the shortest journey.

The Ladies double SelinHübsch/Amelie Lehmann (TV Refrath/TSV Trittau) play in round 1 against the Taiwanese Chen Su Yu/Lee Yu-Hsuan. Like Malik Bourakkadi, Selin Hübsch comes from Mülheim. The women’s doubles is led by the Bulgarian siblings Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva. The reigning European champions took second place at the YONEX German open 2025.
Im Mixed The German runners-up Simon Krax/Amelie Lehmann (SV Fun Dortelweil/ TSV Trittau) and the DM third-placed Malik Bourakkadi/Leona Michalski (TV Refrath) will be at the start.

The first round of men’s and women’s doubles starts on Tuesday, February 24th from 3 p.m. in the Westenergie sports hall.
