Jolina Reinhold and Filo Wüst Named Team Deutschland Flag Bearers

Stade Abdoulaye Wade Prepares for Team Deutschland Flag-Bearers

Jolina Reinhold and Filo Wüst will lead Team Deutschland into the Stade Abdoulaye Wade in Diamniadio on Saturday, October 31, carrying the national flag at the opening ceremony of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. Located roughly 30 kilometers outside Dakar, Senegal, the venue hosts the formal opening sequence where the 17-year-old judoka and beachvolleyball player take center stage. Jens Christoph Pech, Chef de Mission for Team D, highlighted the selection by stating that carrying the flag represents a special honor for young athletes who embody the sporting achievements and demeanor of the entire German delegation.

Jolina Reinhold Secures Flag-Bearing Honor Ahead of Judo Bouts

For Jolina Reinhold, walking at the front of the delegation marks a new experience. The 17-year-old TSV Abensberg athlete previously carried the German flag at the opening ceremony of the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival in Skopje, where she subsequently won a gold medal. Since that appearance, she added an U18 world title and a gold medal at the October Junior European Cup in the under-63-kilogram division. Reinhold stated that continuing the tradition set by Paris 2024 flag-bearer Anna-Maria Wagner means a great deal to her. Her upcoming judo bouts in Dakar are scheduled to begin on November 2 at 10:50 a.m. Central European Time.

Filo Wüst Steps Up alongside Lasse Hüper in Beachvolleyball

Sharing the flag-bearing duties at the Stade Abdoulaye Wade is fellow 17-year-old Filo Wüst. The VCO Berlin beachvolleyball player competes at the Youth Olympic Games alongside partner Lasse Hüper. The U18 European champion of 2025 claimed the U18 World Championship in July in The Hague, Netherlands. Their joint campaign in Senegal brings them to the venue.

Personal Video Surprises from Olympic Veterans Wagner and Ludwig

Ahead of the opening ceremony, the two teenagers received surprise video messages from experienced Team D flag-bearers Anna-Maria Wagner and Laura Ludwig. Wagner, a 30-year-old judoka, carried the German flag at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, while 40-year-old beachvolleyball Olympic champion Ludwig held the honor at the Tokyo 2021 Games. Both veterans recorded personal greetings to congratulate Reinhold and Wüst on their selection.

November 2 Schedule Marks the Start of Reinhold’s Competition

Following the October 31 opening ceremony at the Stade Abdoulaye Wade, Jolina Reinhold transitions to her sporting schedule. Her judo bouts commence on November 2, starting at 10:50 a.m. Central European Time, as Team Deutschland campaigns across the multi-sport event in Senegal.
