Badminton: Sze Fei-Izzuddin Confirmed for Thomas Cup & Asian Games

PETALING JAYA: Former world No. 1 men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani have agreed to help strengthen the national squad for the Thomas Cup Finals in Horsens, Denmark from April 24-May 3.

The matter was confirmed by national doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky.

Rexy said Sze Fei-Izzuddin have not only committed to the Thomas Cup campaign but have also pledged to remain with the Malaysian set up through to the Asian Games in Aichi Nagoya, scheduled from Sept 19 to Oct 4.

“They have already given their answer. In fact, they have committed until the Asian Games,” said Rexy.

Apart from Sze Fei Izzuddin, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) had earlier extended invitations to several other independent players, including men’s singles shuttler Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin, who has agreed to join the centralised training camp with the national squad.

Meanwhile, former Asian champion, Lee Zii Jia and women’s singles player Goh Jin Wei have asked for a week before making a final decision
