Despite this, the coach of Dinamo Mario Kovačević he gave his thoughts on the upcoming trial.
Every game is important, but when we play Rijeka in Rujevica, it’s always a derby. We are going to the current champion, we have to be aware of that. I appreciate and respect Rijeka, but we worked in a good mood, the only problem was Scott McKenna, we’ll see if we use him. We don’t even have Lisica and Bennacer. We will do our best to reach a positive result.”
In the previous two matches, Dinamo showed two faces. In the first half of both games, the Blues dominated, but in the second half, Rijeka was able to seriously threaten. Kovačević referred to exactly that segment of the game.
“Toni Fruk is the one who makes the difference…”
“Both games were specific. We were very good in the first halves, the first half in Maksimir was perhaps our best this season. That’s the recipe for how to play against Rijeka. Coach Sánchez looks for possession, they know how to change the game system during the game, but we only look at ourselves.
Rijeka is a team with good players, but Toni Fruk is the one who makes the difference. Last year, he led them to win the championship and the Cup. We will pay special attention to it. We appreciate it, but we have tactics to stop it.
We worked on playing both halves the way we played the first two games. That’s the only way we can achieve a positive result in Rujevica,” said Dinamo’s coach.
“Rijeka will play open guard…”
Speaking about expectations from the match itself, Dinamo’s coach is convinced that the spectators will see open and attacking football.
“Rijeka will certainly play an open guard. The Spanish coaches want to dominate, to have possession. That is also our way of playing, I am convinced that it will be an interesting match, both teams want to get results through the game.”
“Not that he can, but he has to at the WC…”
He specifically referred to the form of Belja, which has been regularly shaking the net lately.
“If he continues like this, not that he can, but – he must! Beljo is working well, the goals are coming, the team is helping him, he is getting many more opportunities. I hope he will continue like this. Goal scorers are hardworking, Beljo is a legitimate candidate for the World Cup.”
“I’m disappointed about Jagušić…”
In the end, Kovačević did not hide his disappointment that Dinamo was not able to lead Adriana Jagušić.
“I am. I’m a little disappointed. I appreciate him, I wanted him in the summer too, but he went to Panathinaikos, I’m not going to cry now. That’s what he and the people who manage him decided, I wish him luck. But yes, I’m sorry he didn’t come to Dinamo.” concluded Kovačević.
