Inter Milan are keeping up the pace at the top of Serie A. Thanks in part to a goal from German international Yann-Aurel Bisseck, the Champions League finalist won 5-0 (2-0) at Sassuolo Calcio and extended their lead over pursuers AC Milan to eight points for the time being.
The city rival was not in action on matchday 24 because the duel with Como 1907 was postponed to February 18th due to the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in San Siro.
Serie A: Bisseck puts Inter in the lead
Bisseck (11th) gave Inter an early lead with a header; it was the defender’s second goal of the season. Shortly afterwards he could have scored again, but his shot was blocked at the last moment (13th).
Marcus Thuram (28th) did better, increasing the score to 2-0. After the break, Lautaro Martinez (50th), former Dortmund player Manuel Akanji (54th) and Luis Henrique (89th) were successful. In addition, Nemanja Matić (54th) saw yellow-red immediately after Akanji’s goal.
For Inter it was the 19th win of the season and the fourth in a row. Milan have not lost in the league since November 23rd – when they lost 1-0 to local rivals Milan.
