The Badminton State Championships 2026 took place in Klagenfurt last weekend. The Upper Austrian athletes showed outstanding performances and were able to make a significant contribution to the sporting success of our state.
Overall went 2.5 of the 5 state championship titles up for grabs to athletes from Upper Austria – an impressive result that speaks for the strength and breadth of the Upper Austrian badminton scene. The most successful participant in the event was Kai Niederhuber with two gold and one bronze medals. He took revenge for last year’s final defeat in the men’s singles against his training partner Wolfgang Gnedt. Together, the two defended their title in the men’s doubles without losing a set. Upper Austria won 2.5 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze medals, making it the most successful federal state.
