You rarely see something like this: Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard suffered an injury in an unfortunate move at the ATP tournament in Montpellier – the Frenchman had to forfeit his first round match against Arthur Gea.
With the score at 3:5 and 0:30, Mpetshi Perricard came to the net and played a volley. However, he didn’t catch the ball properly and the felt ball bounced off the bat and hit the Frenchman in the left eye from very close range.

Mpetshi Perricard had himself treated, and after the break it was clear that the 22-year-old could no longer continue.
At the Australian Open, Mpetshi Perricard lost in five sets to Argentine Sebastian Baez. Now the bitter and at the same time probably the strangest task at the home tournament in France.
