The Seattle Seahawks, who won the 60th Super Bowl of the National Football League (NFL), have finally begun the sale process.

ESPN, an American sports media outlet, reported on the 19th that the Seattle team began the official sale process 10 days after winning the Super Bowl.

Seattle won 29-13 against the New England Patriots in the 60th Super Bowl held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on the 9th, and lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the second time in their career.

However, before the joy of winning could be over, the club was sold. Meanwhile, rumors of Seattle’s sale continued to emerge, but Seattle continued to deny them.

This sale is in accordance with the will of former club owner Paul Allen.

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen acquired Seattle for $194 million in 1997. Paul Allen passed away in 2018, and his sister Jody Allen has managed the club since then. Paul Allen’s will said to return his property to society, and this sale is also related to that. Jody Allen also agreed to sell the National Basketball Association (NBA) Portland Trail Blazers, which Paul Allen owned during his lifetime, to Thomas Dundon, owner of the North American Ice Hockey League (NHL) Carolina Hurricanes, for $4.25 billion.

Seattle’s club value is currently estimated at around $7 billion to $8 billion. According to Paul Allen’s will, all proceeds from the sale of Seattle and Portland will be used for charity.
